Education and Training

California EMS Education and Training (CEMSET) is owned and operated by Eric Spoonhunter, who works as a critical care transport (CCT) flight paramedic, based in the beautiful Eastern Sierra region (Bishop, California). He was first certified as an Emergency Medical Technician more than 15 years ago. After earning his Bachelor of Science degree, Eric attended paramedic school at the UCLA-Daniel Freeman Paramedic Education Program. In doing so, he earned an A.A. in Health Professions from West Los Angeles College (Culver City, California). Eric also is an alumnus of Cuesta College (San Luis Obispo, California) where he earned an A.A. in Criminal Justice.

Eric attended the University of Maryland, Baltimore County's (UMBC) Critical Care Emergency Medical Transport Program (CCEMTP) in Baltimore, Maryland (the CCEMTP is also available throughout the country via educational site licenses granted by UMBC) prior to seeking a position as a flight paramedic. Eric also has earned board certification from the Board for Critical Care Transport Paramedic Certification (BCCTPC) as a Flight Paramedic-Certified, or "FP-C." He also serves as the California State Delegate for the International Association of Flight and Critical Care Paramedics (IAFCCP). For more information, please visit www.flightparamedic.org.

Eric is an advocate for furthering the professional recognition and status of EMS providers of all levels (Emergency Medical Responder, Emergency Medical Technician, Advanced Emergency Medical Technician, and Paramedic). To that end, he maintains current, active memberships in the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT Lifetime Member), the National Association of EMS Educators (NAEMSE), and the International Association of Flight and Critical Care Paramedics (IAFCCP), formerly known as the International Association of Flight Paramedics (IAFP).
